About the Artist

Elaine Gloodt art is inspired by the beautiful locations she lived in and her travels throughout the United States. Her roots were in "portraits" (pencil, pastel, oil) which led to advertising cartooning for the family business, a drive inn named after her father Jay Dekoker, "Jolly Jay's" in Palos Heights, IL. After retiring in the 1970's, the family moved to the Florida Gulf Shore community Bellear Shores, and this is where she began her fascination with seascapes. Elaine moved to California and lived in Carmel Highlands for 20 years. During this time she painted Western scenes, the stunning Pacific and continued a cartoon series she ultimately named "Party People of Carmel". While her artwork is diverse the common thread is her love of the environment, her passion for observing people and her love of the U.S. landscapes. Her "Party People of Carmel" series is certain to have you looking for "Aunt Maude" or "Cousin Fred" with a smile sure to follow.

While Elaine worked in acrylic, pen and ink, pastels, and watercolor, she enjoyed oil painting the most. Enjoy the art galleries.
