As many old masters have done before her, Elaine went through a phase producing abstracts. There was a freeness that she enjoyed while doing an oil abstract and often would change the abstract after a period of time. So while you would look at the canvas one moment, if you came and looked at it a few months later it was likely an entirely different painting.
